School Description

Washington State University was founded in the year 1890 as an agricultural college, a product of The Morrill Acts of 1862. Through the years, it has evolved into a top-tier research university whose foundation is built upon providing public service and accessible education.

Today, its main campus is located in Pullman, where over 19,000 of approximately 30,000 Washington State University students are currently attending, with the remaining 11,000 spread among its three other campuses in Spokane, Tri-Cities, Vancouver, or globally through distance-learning. Through its 11 colleges, Washington State University offers 95 undergraduate majors and 76 master's degree programs in areas of business, arts and sciences, education, medical sciences, nursing, pharmacy, veterinary medicine, communication, engineering and architecture, and agricultural, human and natural resource sciences.

    Academic English Program

    Instruction focuses on building the speaking, listening, and writing skills that are essential to academic success. A variety of elective courses are available in each program.

    The IALC’s main program consists of 21 hours of instruction per week. This means each student will take 18 core hours at each level and choose a three-credit mandatory elective.
