It was a really interesting and defining experience in my professional career. My teachers cared about my learning, not only from an academic point of view but also from the point of view of patient care and attitudes towards them.

1990-1993, Bachelor of Arts (BA) Honours, Philosophy

A University that prides itself on free thinkingI began my University studies at Carlton U and found it too ideological and activist. I did not want my experience of learning cluttered with rhetoric and injustice collecting. Ottawa U gave me an environment where I could reflect and deduce my own conclusions without the clamor of different movements vying for my soul. As such, I had an opportunity to investigate the Western Philosophical Canon without having to superimpose the Paradigm of the month upon every book or idea. As such I found Ottawa U an environment whereby free thinking took place. I hope it has not been co-opted by the ideology whereby school is a place to be converted by some movement. I know in my experience I loved the freedom to learn without the burden of having to conform to what the hoards deemed progressive.
