University of Denver (DU), located a few miles south of downtown Denver, houses more than 11,500 students ranging from all regions of the US and 83 other countries. The University provides its students with the options of more than 100 undergraduate and more than 120 graduate and professional programs.

School Description

University of Denver (DU), founded in 1864, is the oldest independent university in the Rocky mountain region. The University was founded by John Evans, the then governor of the Colorado Territory along with the backing of local businessmen and the Methodist Church. The University was originally established as the Colorado Seminary. Even today, the University embraces the principles and traditions of the Methodist Church.

Since its establishment, DU has had a hand in the cultural, social, economic and educational life of the city of Denver. DU’s goals centre around creating a diverse community, providing an exceptional educational experience and providing research and scholarship opportunities across the university. The Carnegie Foundation has termed the University as research university with high levels of research activity.
