The Faculty of Law in University of Calgary took ten years to come into existence. It offers an Juris Doctor (JD) program that prepares the students for a variety of roles within the legal system. It also offers Graduate Programs and PhDs in every fields of law. .

The university has created a jointed degree program with the University of Houston Law Center - the International Energy Lawyers Program (IELP) that allows students to earn Canadian and American Law degrees in a matter of four years hence enabling them to work in both countries.
