Skidmore College - Master's Degree
Skidmore College was established in the early 1900s by Lucy Scribner who decided to invest her inheritance in a school where young women of the town could learn skills that would make them self-supporting. The school started out as – the Young Women’s Industrial Club of Saratoga Springs – offering a curriculum that was a blend of practical courses in typewriting, bookkeeping, textile arts, physical education, music and dance. By 1908 Skidmore had 436 male and female students from the surrounding towns and countryside.
Today the College has a diverse student body of 2,400 from 70 countries and 45 states; and a faculty of 300. The College is known for its interdisciplinary approach to learning, collaborative faculty-student research, and off-campus study program (60% of its students study abroad) where students can chose from 130 study-abroad programs, in London, Paris, Alcalá, and Madrid.
