Northern Illinois University - Master's Degree

Northern Illinois University is a public comprehensive and research institution from the city of DeKalb, just 65 miles west of Chicago in Illinois. It's more than 700-acre campus houses its seven colleges that offer 130 undergraduate majors and minors and 80 graduate programs and 54 specialisations in the areas of business, education, engineering & engineering technology, health & human sciences, law, liberal arts & sciences, and visual & performing arts.

School Description

Northern Illinois University traces it roots back to when it was chartered in 1895 and opened its doors as the Northern Illinois State Normal School whose sole mission was to train college-educated teachers. Through the years, then-Illinois Gov. John Peter Altgeld expanded the 'normal school' to address the need for a quality public school. The continuous growth of the Institute after the second World War and the wars in Korea and Vietnam led to it becoming the Northern Illinois State College in 1955, and the Northern Illinois University two years after.

Today, student enrollment is over 20,000, more than half of which are non-whites and it employs over 3,000 faculty and staff members in its 756-acre campus which boasts of 64 major buildings and a student-housing capacity of approximately 5,000. Northern Illinois University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and is a member of the North Central Association.
