School Description
Dalhousie University was founded in 1818 by George Ramsay, the ninth Earl of Dalhousie. The University however suffered several setbacks in its early years. Nearly 50 years later Dalhousie University reorganised and opened with roughly 56 students, six professors and one tutor. Even then it was a while before the University started to flourish. In 1879 George Munro, a wealthy New York publisher with Nova Scotia roots, helped the university with its money troubles. His contributions essentially saved the University from closure. In 1886, the university moved from the Grand Parade in downtown Halifax to the Forrest Building on today’s Carleton campus and spread gradually to occupy Studley Campus.
The 20th century saw the University grow and thrive. In 1997, Dalhousie amalgamated with the Technical University of Nova Scotia (TUNS) but kept the Dalhousie name. Five years later, in 2012, Dalhousie amalgamated with the Nova Scotia Agricultural College (NSAC) in Truro which is now the Faculty of Agriculture. The University now serves nearly 18000 students from 150 countries.

Dalhousie MBA
I came to DAL from CBU in Cape Breton (BBA 88') and had both a great academic and business experience (Coburg Consultants) at Dalhousie. With a class size of 100, the placement rate in full time employment was second to none, even in the jaws of a deep domestic recession. Key employers were confident in expending their Corporate Banking training budgets in further developing DAL MBA grads. DAL grads retain a reputation for hard work, loyalty and fair dealing, all traits that transcend both borders and business cycles.

Dal Inspired My Mind
It was a privilege to take the DAL MBA (FS) program geared towards financial services executives, professionals and managers. This program provided me with a great experience in a number of areas: it is academically challenging and well structured to balance the needs of a busy professional, it provides substantial insights into the industry and creative tools today's financial services manager needs and can use when making decisions at work, and it provides a significant opportunity to network with like minded professionals. Dal program inspired me to do more, and I did more. It helped me get to where I am today.
