School Description

South Texas College was created on September 1, 1993, by Texas Senate Bill 251 to serve Hidalgo and Starr counties. South Texas College has 60 transfer agreements with schools across the country for students looking to transfer to four-year universities beyond an associate degree.

South Texas College is currently home to 34,000 enrolled students served by a faculty and staff of more than 1,600 people. South Texas College offers more than 119 degree and certificate program options, including associate degrees in a variety of art, science, technology and allied health fields of study. South Texas College has 384 faculty members with master’s degrees, 46 hold double master’s, five hold triple master’s and 79 have doctorate degrees. South Texas College campus facilities are spread through five campus locations viz; Pecan Campus in McAllen, Mid-Valley Campus in Weslaco, Starr County Campus in Rio Grande City, Technology Campus in McAllen and Ramiro R.
