Quincy College is a two-year municipally-affiliated higher education institute located in Quincy and Plymouth, Massachusetts, United States. School Description

Quincy College was initially established in 1957 as College Courses Inc., a non-profit charitable organization formed to help further higher education on the South Shore. The school's first freshman classes began in the fall of year 1957. The school was transformed into a junior college after it was granted power to offer associate's degrees and it was then renamed to Quincy Junior College in 1958. Quincy College gained accreditation from the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) in 1980. The school founded its Plymouth campus 30 minutes south of Quincy in downtown Plymouth, Massachusetts in the year 1991.

Today, Quincy College has grown into a municipally accredited college with campuses in Plymouth and Quincy annually serving approximately 4,000 students. Quincy College offers 37 associate degree programmes and 25 certificate courses in wide areas of study such as Business, Science, Liberal Arts, Nursing and more. Quincy College is home to students from diverse backgrounds with around 356 international students coming from 69 countries around the world. Students studying at Quincy College get take part in its 25 student clubs, four intramural sports teams and two honors societies.

    Nursing

    All nursing courses require students to have scheduled clinical nursing practice within a variety of health care settings under the supervision of qualified nursing faculty. Please note, acceptance to the program does not guarantee a clinical nursing placement. Clinical facilities require a satisfactory criminal offender record information (CORI) check on all students before he/she can be allowed in the clinical setting. A positive CORI check may mean that a student is not allowed within a clinical facility for his/her clinical nursing practice. A misdemeanor or a felony can result in a positive CORI. If this happens, then the student may not be able to complete the nursing program. Please note that some clinical settings may require drug screening. Any student with a positive drug screen for any drug that does not have a legitimate prescription will be dismissed from the program. Students who successfully complete the program are eligible to take the NCLEX Registered Nurse examination for licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN). Applicants for licensure in Massachusetts must be of good moral character as determined by the Board of Registration in Nursing. Please note that a student who has been convicted of either a misdemeanor or a felony may be denied entrance to the licensure examination.

    Surgical Technology

    The Surgical Technology Program is a ten month, full-time course of study beginning in September each year. The 40 credit certificate program trains students to become entry level Surgical Technologists and prepares them to sit for the certification exam offered by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting. Upon successful completion of this exam, individuals are board certified and may use the credentials of Certified Surgical Technologist (CST).

    Web and Mobile Applications

    USD 6,870 Tuition Fee

    The Web and Mobile Development Certificate Program will provide students with the knowledge and skills to design and develop functional, interactive websites. Students will gain valuable experience working with modern web languages, technologies, and practices. Topics include: markup languages (HTML, CSS), programming languages (JavaScript, PHP), databases (MySQL), multimedia creation (animation, video), and World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) compliance practices. Upon completion of the certificate, students will gain valuable hands-on experience with the many areas of website development, including web page design, client-side scripting, and server-side scripting.
