School Description

City College of San Francisco was started by the Board of Education of the San Francisco Unified School District as San Francisco Junior College in 1935. The school's increasing enrollment numbers demanded establishment of a permanent main campus which was opened in 1940 near Ocean Avenue. San Francisco Junior College was renamed to City College of San Francisco in 1948.

Today, City College of San Francisco has evolved into a multicultural, multi campus community college that is one of the largest in the county. City College of San Francisco offers courses in over 50 programmes and more than 100 career-oriented disciplines. CCSF teaching staff includes 815 full-time and 1035 part-time faculty, of whom 250 members hold terminal degrees in their respective area of specialization.
