Giving A Chance To A Late Bloomer from Canada

If it wasn't for the University of Montana , I would still be a shipper receiver in a wholesale in Edmonton, Alberta. When I graduated from High School I did not meet the academic requirements to enter a Canadian University. I wrote to 50 Colleges and Universities in the US and nobody accepted me. And then one day I got a letter from the U of M, and it was the happiest day of my life. I remember my parents greeting me at the door with the letter. I opened it and to my delight it was from the admissions office telling me that I was accepted on probation for Spring Quarter, and if my grade point was at C level, I could come back in the fall as a permanent student. I celebrated by running around the block with the letter in my hand telling all the neighbours. It was the turning point in my life. If I had believed my High School principal who told me I would have to simply give up college and the only job I would be qualified for was a shipper receiver, I would still be struggling in life, knowing I had potential if only somebody only beleievd in me. You see , I was a late developer in almost everything both physically, emotionally, and academically. With the faith that the University of Montana had in me , along with the wonderful and caring professors, like Dr. Harold Tascher, I made the honour role twice , once as an undergraduate and once as a graduate student. I also went on to become an author, a recognized media personality, a consultant, and a successful development professional working for Universities and Hospitals. None of this would have been possible without the faith that the University of Montana had in me. And so when you get that letter of acceptance in the mail, remember to celebrate it as a turning point in your life, because you never know where that road will take you. One thing for sure, your time in Missoula will be the single greatest time in your life. Go Griz!

        Had a great experience here

One of my deciding factors was the friendliness of the staff when I came to tour the school. Made me feel right at home from the first day. Also, one of the leading, if not the leading school in Forestry. I enjoyed all of my professors, and I just love Missoula as a place to live.

I broadened my horizons at UM

I can't recommend the University of Montana highly enough. I left the U well prepared to follow my career path in broadcasting after spending two years on the most picturesque campus imaginable.
