Gonzaga University was founded in 1887. Gonzaga College started in 1881, with only $936 in hard silver dollars to its name. Gonzaga’s founder, Father Joseph Cataldo, S.J., bought 320 acres of land and within six years the College officially welcomed “young Scholastics, whose ambition was to become priests”. In the academic year 1887-88, it gained university status and had an enrollment of 18 boys and young men. Today it has evolved in to a private institution for higher education, with 105 buildings spanning the 131 acre campus. The academic year 2013-14 had an enrollment of 7,691 students, including both men and women.
Gonzaga operates on the motto; ‘Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam’, which translates to ‘For the greater glory of God’. The university provides a Catholic liberal arts education and commits itself to the Jesuit, Catholic and humanistic ideals of education, which emphasize on integrating science and art, faith and reason, action and contemplation. The University also offers numerous athletic opportunities to its students on various levels; intramural, club and NCCA Division I. These events see participation from 60 percent of the student population. Student athletes also partake in the West Coast Conference in volleyball, soccer, cross-country, basketball, baseball, rowing, tennis, golf and track.

Well rounded virtual education!
Looking for small virtual classes with people all over the world? Every course I took was taught by someone I greatly respected. Throughout my masters program I found each course applicable to the workplace. I continue to reflect on and leverage the teachings. I've kept the books and use them as resources. I looked at many programs before selecting the Gonzaga program. I'm very happy with my choice.
