School Description

Fort Lewis College traces its roots back to a U.S. Army Post, after which the college was named, from Pagosa Springs and then later to Hesperus. The U.S. government then established a boarding school called Fort Lewis Indian School after abandoning the site as a military post in 1891. By 1911, the institution's first embodiment was established as a high school of agriculture by 1925 started offering college-level courses. It granted its first baccalaureate degrees in 1964 after moving to its Durango campus 8 years prior.

Today, Fort Lewis College enrolls nearly 4,000 students from all 50 states and 17 countries across the world. Its campus in Durango that overlooks the Animas River Valley is home to about one-third of its student population who live in on-campus residence halls and apartments. It also has 10 academic buildings that houses its School of Arts and Sciences, School of Business Administration and Teacher Education Department.

Great educational platform that gives you an insite for your future.

The education I received was not only a textbook learning it was a practical real life education that I have never seen in other college graduates. In the words of the great Lyle Howard you are going to get a rounded education that is going to work for you the rest of your life.
