Dublin City University - Bachelor's Degree
Dublin City University (DCU) was established in Dublin in 1975 as the National Institute of Higher Education. The Institute started out by offering six undergraduate degrees to a student body of 200. The University saw several developments over the years, such as the opening of the Henry Grattan Building and introduction of postgraduate degrees. More buildings were set up over the years and more courses (even at a PhD level) introduced. The Institute was designated university status in 1989.
Currently Dublin City University is completing the incorporation process of bringing together St Patrick’s College, Drumcondra (SPD), Mater Dei Institute of Education (MDI) and Church of Ireland College of Education (CICE). As a result of these developments a new Institute of Education, a new Faculty in DCU and the first Faculty of Education in an Irish university will be established, catering to a student body of 16,000 students.
