Program Description

The four-year childhood education program at Capital University requires students to take 120 credit hours of curriculum that prepares them for a future career as an educator and results in licensure in the area of early childhood education, which is one of over 20 specializations to choose from. To graduate from this program, students need to apply and get accepted into the competitive education program, land a student teaching position, and pass their teaching licensure exam.

Over the course of the program, students will be presented with a rich curriculum that both provides them with the knowledge they need to effectively teach others and instills essential skills for being successful in their future careers, such as communication, problem-solving, and critical-thinking. Starting their second year, participants will have opportunities to partake in field-based experiences completed at various schools in the area. From paid internships to practicing teaching skills at the reading center, students will have many opportunities to apply what they learn.
