Studying abroad is one of the best decisions you’ll ever make for your future. Deciding to study in the UK will improve this decision tenfold! The UK has a global benchmark standard in education and its internationally recognized degree will help you stand out no matter where you go!

So What Do You Need To Be Eligible?

The documents required to apply may vary depending on the programme you choose to study and the college you prefer to study the programme at. You need to have successfully passed your 12th boards or higher secondary certificate examination or pre-university qualifications equivalent to the UK A-levels. The best way to find out if your academic qualifications equal UK A-levels is to have them sent for a WES evaluation. But even if you have not completed a qualification similar to UK A-levels - there are still ways around it. Then, in that case, the best bet for Indian students is to enroll for a foundation-level pathway programme to get on par with university-level challenges.

Apart from this, you also need to have obtained a minimum percentage or GPA to be eligible for a specific degree. To give you an idea on an average you will require a minimum 65% or above to enrol for a humanities course, and 70-80% and above to get accepted in science or business courses. GPA stands for Grade Point Average and refers to your average score for all subjects over a specific period of time. If you would like to know more about GPA scores, look at our blog: Your GPA – why is it important and why should it matter to you.

Why Should You Study In The UK?

Your decision to study abroad could be influenced by many factors starting from the ease of admission to the quality of education and job prospects after graduation to dream of settling abroad. However if getting acceptance is your top concern, then the good news is that a recorded rise of 10% was witnessed last year in the number of Indian students getting acceptance in UK colleges. Another major reason why Indian students choose to study in the UK is that they can complete a bachelor’s degree in three or even as minimum as two years time like at the University of Buckingham. This directly helps you in saving one year of living cost, earning your degree faster, and start working even earlier than expected!

What Documents Do You Require?

When you apply to a college or university, you need to complete the application form (nowadays usually available online as well) and send in copies of your high school transcripts and transcripts from any other higher education institute, if you have attended any. Most of the application forms that you complete will most likely be very similar to one another as most universities make use of UCAS’s (Universities and Colleges Admissions Service) services.

If English is not your first language, the university might require you to take the IELTS or TOEFL tests to ensure that your command and understanding of the English language is on par for the degree.

Other documentation that you will be required to submit includes, but is not limited to:

  • Copy of your passport
  • Passport size photograph
  • Visa – if you are staying for longer than one semester
  • Copy of your birth certificate
  • Proof that you can afford the tuition fees and any other expenses that might come up

This is just a general list of documentation that you will require when applying to study in the UK. Also, you have us at SchoolApply to help you find out what specific documents they require.
