Once you have understood this, the next question that may come to your mind is: how do I know if my grades are equivalent to the scores required to apply to Canadian schools? A WES evaluation is the simple answer to this! What Are The Requirements To Study In Canada:
It is important to note that each university has their own requirements to study there and requirements might change according to your home country. These are just a general idea of the requirement for you to be accepted into a school in Canada. You will need to check with your desired school what information they require from you.
Completed and passed twelve years of schooling: This one is pretty self-explanatory.
Have the required GPA with the required subjects: Each school will have a minimum GPA that you need in order to be considered for a specific degree. Check with your preferred school where you would like to apply what the GPA requirements are. They will also be able to tell you if there are specific subject requirements for a degree.
IELTS or TOEFL tests: These tests are to prove that you have the sufficient command of the English language in order to succeed in your studies. When submitting your certificate, make sure that it is still valid, and will be for at least two months.
Proof of finances: your parents will need to be able to prove that they can support your studies and live abroad in order for you to gain your study permit.
Study permit: This is also known as a student visa. You can apply for this at the Canadian Consulta or Immigration office once you have received your acceptance letter.
What Documentation Will You Require:
In order to apply to a school in Canada, you will need to submit the following documentation:
Completed application form: before submitting your application form, ensure that you have completed all the information on the form. Skipping this step and submitting a half-completed form will have your application thrown out or just make your life really difficult in general.
Attested copy of your high school transcripts: If you haven’t yet finished high school then you can send through the latest marks that you have received. Make a copy of the original transcript, get them attested and send them through to the schools who you would like to apply to.
Resume: Compile a resume of all your academic achievements, awards received with extracurricular activities, community work and work experience that you can submit with your application. This will also come in handy later when you want to start working.
Letter of Intent: Write a letter addressed to the university stating why you are applying to the specific school. In the letter, also add an outline about what your academic intentions are: what program you are applying for if you intend to further your studies at the university, and how far etc.
Transcripts from all post-secondary institutions: Submitting these transcripts to your application, if you have previously studied at another institution will help strengthen your application and chances to gain acceptance at the university.
